How I Select Maternity Wear…

I haven’t bought too many maternity pieces yet, but it’s important that I pick pieces that are also wearable when not pregnant (‘cause some maternity wear ain’t cheap). So far, I’ve gotten a pair of black skinnies, a deliciously warm parka, and this striped dress from Topshop.  This lovely Free People skirt isn’t maternity, but it’s stretch is AMAZING and will do the job even when 8 months rolls around.

I’ll get into more maternity wear as the months go on (but I don’t know how many of you will actually be interested in that 😛)

Let’s talk about these sneakers… ‘cause I haven’t seen a pair quite like these before. They’re by Garment Project, a footwear brand from Denmark. Love the natural rubber sole and leather laces (attention to detail is definite…even if subdued). Mat got a pair with marbled soles, SO COOL.

If you live in Vancouver, you can find them at: Eugene Choo, BlubirdThe Block, Rebecca Bree, and Brooklyn Clothing.

I’m excited for more maternity wear! I’m always looking for maternity inspiration that doesn’t involve t-shirts with little string belts that infest most maternity stores. Just because we’re housing tiny people doesn’t mean we stop wanting to dress like adults!
